It’s so easy to sit back and maintain the status quo, but the only way to really achieve progress is by taking risks. Staying inside your shell where it’s safe and secure means that you’ll never get anywhere or achieve anything. There’s no legacy in staying safe, no chance for success by going the easy way.
Jeff started collecting antiques as a hobby, and it quickly grew into a lucrative passion. He made his first sales online, selling old books that he picked up at thrift shops and estate sales. But as Jeff grew more knowledgeable, he began to gravitate towards rarer books. The only problem was, some of these titles carried a much higher upfront cost.
These eighteenth century manuscripts were also not the kind of merchandise that just anyone would want to buy. What if Jeff got stuck with them? It was a chance he decided to take, and it paid off when he made his first big sale a few weeks later. Things started to snowball from there, and Jeff was able to use the proceeds to buy more books.
Eventually, he jumped from online to renting a small shop for his books, one with a hefty online market. He turned his passion into a successful career, with regular buyers all over the world. Looking back at the early days of the project, he realized that none of it would have happened if he hadn’t been willing to be brave, take some risks, and stretch his neck a little.
